Reviews

  • 4 Thoroughly delightful setting

Turtley Corn Mill is situated just off the North Bound carriageway of the A38 Expressway which runs from Plymouth to Exeter. It is a sensitively renovated mill building, using original materials where possible and giving an ambience and setting which is both delightful and upbeat. the main restaurant room faces onto the grounds, and the use of natural wood and stone and incorporating a wall of old books in a library area have made this such a pleasant place to be. The staff are young and vibrant, thoroughly switched on and unafraid to give excellent customer services. Recent addition of 4 ensuite rooms, fitted out with a great deal of thought given to design, space and the fact that they are on the country facing side of the building, eliminating noise, has meant that you can come along and enjoy excellent cuisine from an imaginative menu and not have to drive home afterwards.Outside the grounds are really lovely. The place is family friendly and there are families of ducks who live on the pond and in the stream which flows through the bottom of the garden. The pond is fenced off, although you can walk through the whole area, so though has been given to the ability of families to enjoy the experience. We went along for a snack lunch on my Birthday but will be returning soon and intend to do the dine and stay option. Food was really fresh, served efficiently and there is provision for vegetarians and carnivores. An excellent experience, thank you Turtley people.
