• APPLESTONE MUSIC AND SOUND NIGHTMARE

  I recieved two faulty bass guitars courtesy of apple stone music and sound (also known as guitar world.com. The excuse for the first damaged bass guitar (a vintage vcb 430) was that it was listed as ex demo, which it certainly wasn't listed as I printed out the web page at the time this bass guitar was listed and it NEVER STATED THE WORDS EX DEMO on it. It took a month before the the bass guitar was collected from and then a 2 month wait before I recieved the replacement bass guitar which again was damaged. During this 3 month period I was only contacted by David Collerton once, owner of applestone music and sound. I had to send this one back as well this time by recorded delivery which cost me £11.99 as the shop owner David Collerton refused to arrange to collect it even though this was the 2 damaged bass guitar that I had recieved from applestone music and sound. Once David Collerton recieved the second bass guitar back he stated in a telephone call that I would recieve a refund during the next week as he said and I qoute "As a small business I have to spread my refunds out" (wonder what refunds these might be for?) This would not even be a full refund as he stated he was was taking the cost of the initial postage out the refund. This in itself is against consumer law as under the sales of good act of 1979 I was entitled to a full refund as the 2 bass guitars I recieved from him were both damaged. It has since been over 2 weeks since the 2nd bass guitar was signed for and recieved by David Collerton and it has taken 2 weeks of call for a refund to be given. I originally paid £203.10 (£7.80 for postage) for the bass guitar yet the refund I recieved today was for only £193 which was only a partial refund and not the whole amount which I was due back. It also cost me £11.99 to send the 2nd damaged bass guiar back to applestone music and sound and since i was only refunded £193 and not the actual cost of £203.10 I have since lost just £22 by dealing with this shop. This matter has since been passed onto consumer direct and trading standards as I have been absolutely disgusted with the service I recieved from applestone music and sound and David Collerton.
