Widecombe in the Moor
Lower Blackaton is 3 miles NW of the Dartmoor village of Widecombe (pubs, cafés, village store & post office, church, National Trust and gift shops), 6 miles from Ashburton, 9 miles from Bovey Tracey, 15 miles from Newton Abbot (station, supermarkets etc) and 25 miles from Plymouth and Exeter. The accommodation is on two floors, with staircases at either end and steps between some of the rooms. Guests have access to wireless broadband, telephone and Sky TV. Downstairs, a granite porch opens into a book-lined hall between the kitchen and the larger of two south-facing sitting rooms. Both have wood burning stoves. The kitchen has an oil-fired Aga, dishwasher, fridge, a farmhouse table, and a large sink under the south-facing window. There is a downstairs toilet, and a separate utility room with washing machine, tumbler dryer, freezer, microwave, oil fired boiler and large store cupboard. Upstairs, there are 5 bedrooms (2 with double and single beds, one twin, one with bunk, a single pull-out second bed) and an extra bed on the landing. The twin room is ensuite. The others share a bathroom and shower room. Outside, there are tables and benches in a choice of settings, including a listed ruin in which there is also an attractive flower and herb garden. The rest of the garden is natural, with grass paths between trees and bushes and wild flowers, an orchard and a large open grass area. A swing, hammock, rope ladder and knotted rope hang from mature beech trees to the side of a converted barn (which is used by the owners when in residence). The surrounding scenery is superb, with easy access to the open moor. Please Note: Non-smoking. Pets by prior arrangement. All Children are Welcome. Off street parking available.
